Shane Knight

I started my love and hate relationship with photography more than 37 years ago when I purchased a couple of used SLR lenses at a yard sale.  I wanted to resell them at my parents; however, no one would buy lenes without a body.  I saved up and traveled to the city and purchased an Olympus OMpc SLR.  After loading my first test roll of film, I was hooked- never sold the camera.  I photographed for my high school yearbook/sports and was introduced to the darkroom.   I was doing senior pictures before I was a senior.  After high school I started working in large custom printing labs and studio photography.  I loved it; however, in my mid 20's I was getting burned out and needed to do something different. 

My relationship with horses and landscapes began well before I started photographing them.  I was burned out and wasn't interested in the commercial photography nor printing. So, I decided to do something totally different and started working for ranches in Arizona and Wyoming as a ranch hand/horse wrangler- talk about a pay cut. One day, I decided to blow off the dust of my Nikon and photograph the horses I was working with.  I feel in love once again.   I also started photographing the nearby landscape and go on extended roundtrips to popular destinations between horse jobs.
